Accounting Manager- Debt & Assets

Job Summary Direct/Manage/Supervise one or more accounting teams. Ensure university adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other accounting standards. Ensure timely preparation and review of all required regulatory filings. Advise on annual budgeting and prepare accounting reports for executive leadership. Review work submitted by accountants and manage accounting close processes. Perform analysis on financials and accounting metrics for presentation to leadership. First-level manager. Manage the activities of supervisors and/or individual contributors. Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews. Broad knowledge of the field with demonstrated leadership skills.

Responsibilities - Responsible for all debt, asset, and investment accounting functions. - Work closely with Surplus and Grants and Contracts Accounting regarding asset disposals. - Responsible for debt & asset management systems including data entry, access, testing, and maintenance. - Assist in year end close and annual financial audit. - Assist in preparation of any necessary reporting related to debt or assets. - Regular review all of responsible processes for improvement. - Set and maintain KPI’s for team. - Review and approve monthly depreciation entries for two business units.

Minimun Qualifications EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience). Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.

Preferences - Experience in property accounting, debt, and, endowment and investment account - Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant(CPA).Candidates who are CPA-eligible (per the State of Utah Division of Occupational Licensing rules) may be consider - Process improvement and implementation - Understanding of Financial Accounting Standards Board or GASB rules and guidelines
