What is a CPA?

The CPA credential is critical in the business and financial world. CPAs are recognized for their integrity, competency and objectivity.

To earn a CPA status, candidates complete required accounting college courses including an advance degree, one year of real-world experience and follow that  up with a rigorous two-day exam to test their business, auditing and general accounting skills. Prior to licensure, they must also pass an ethics exam as well as the Utah Law & Rules Exam. CPAs maintain their credentials by completing 80 hours of continuing professional education every two years and must abide by a strict code of conduct and perform within the high standards that come with the title.

The Utah Association of CPAs supports and challenges members through advocacy, professional education, leadership development, networking and community service to help them succeed in a competitive and changing world.

Understanding the language of accounting can be difficult and finding the right CPA for you, can be a challenge. The UACPA can help you understand these and other issues related to personal and business finance, and how UACPA members can help you.
