New CPE Reporting System

DOPL has announced that they will be implementing a new online CPE reporting system. Susan Speirs, CEO of the UACPA, explains the new reporting system in this short video.

The Certified Public Accounting Act Rule (R156-26a) is currently being amended. The change will extend the renewal date of your CPA license to December 31, 2018 and align the CPE reporting period with the expiration date. A new mandatory online reporting system will be used to self-report your CPE hours.

Because the current reporting period is being extended from December 31, 2017 to December 31, 2018 – adding a full year to this reporting period – 120 hours of CPE will be required for the initial three year reporting period from January 1, 2016 – December 31, 2018. CPE hours will be reported using the new online reporting system and will then be linked to your license. In September, 2018, you will receive a reminder card with a renewal ID number. Once you receive a renewal notification and your 120 hour CPE requirement has been met, you will be able to go online and renew your CPA license.

All two year renewal/reporting periods after 2018 will require 80 hours of CPE.

The amended Rule is expected to become effective about November 7, 2017. A letter with more details will be sent to all licensed CPA’s near the effective date of the Rule. At that time, the Rule will also be available on our website for review.

The online CPE reporting system will be available once the Rule becomes effective.

If DOPL has record of any carry-over hours associated with your license from the previous reporting period (up to 40) the online system will reflect those hours.

Does the 3 year period change the ethics requirement for the 12/31/2018 reporting period?
