Services at the Internal Revenue Service’s Taxpayer Assistance Center (TAC) located at 173 E. 100 North, in Provo, Utah, will be unavailable Monday, Aug. 24, through Friday, Dec. 4, 2015.
The nearest IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center can be found at 50 S. 200 East, in Salt Lake City.
Before visiting an IRS office, please check the hours and services offered at that location. Services at IRS offices vary, may be limited or unavailable.
Hours of operation and available services for all Taxpayer Assistance Centers are listed at www.irs.gov/localcontacts. This website lists local telephone numbers for making appointments (if the TAC offers that service) and other services the TAC offers as well as other useful information. You can also locate the nearest volunteer tax preparation site on IRS.gov by entering “VITA” in the search function or make a free online payment using IRS Direct Pay (http://www.irs.gov/Payments/Direct-Pay). It’s fast, secure and available 24/7.
Visiting an IRS office is not the only option available for tax help. Taxpayers can often get needed tax information or resolve a tax problem without having to call or visit an IRS office. The IRS website provides many of the same services available at a Taxpayer Assistance Center including the ability to request copies of transcripts, check the status of a tax refund or get answers to common tax questions.
