Specific topics include:

  • The types of retirement plans and which situations are appropriate for each one
  • Understanding the basics of “fancy” defined contribution plans (new comparability, age-weighted, etc.)
  • Safe harbor §401(k) plans—when are they appropriate
  • Filing requirements for qualified retirement plans
  • Plan designs decisions, including trade-offs involved in designing a plan for employee retention vs. a plan for owner financial planning
