AICPA Chair Ernie Almonte to Speak at UACPA Annual Meeting
AICPA Chair Ernie Almonte will visit Utah in August to address UACPA members at the Annual Meeting. Cara Galleni, UACPA President, said of the Annual Meeting and Mr. Almonte's visit to Utah, "Ernie is an inspiration to the profession, and to me as an individual. The Annual Meeting, which the UACPA has not held in many years, could not have a better person than Ernie to help kick it off again." FASB Approves Accounting Standards Codification
The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) has voted to approve the FASB Accounting Standards Codification™ as the single source of authoritative nongovernmental U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to be launched on July 1, 2009. The Codification will be effective for interim and annual periods ending after September 15, 2009, which means that preparers must begin to use the Codification for periods that begin on or about July 1, 2009. All existing accounting standard documents are superseded. All other accounting literature not included in the Codification will be considered nonauthoritative. Although the Codification does not change GAAP, the resources used for researching questions relating to GAAP will no longer come from FASB Statements, Interpretations, Staff Positions, or other sources in the GAAP hierarchy this Codification has replaced. Having all GAAP in a single source, sorted by topic, will make research faster and easier. More.
